Our Story

Photo AlZon Photography

Formed in 2015 by brothers Alec (lead vocals and guitar) and Hamish (fiddle) McDonald, The County Lads began their musical journey in the SD&G Counties, where they quickly gained recognition for their unique take on everything from Celtic to Country music. The addition of two close friends, Nolan Laframboise (bass) and Joah Vaillancourt (drums), completed the band, creating a sound that has since become unforgettable. Drawing inspiration from Scottish and Irish traditions, The County Lads blend these influences with elements of Folk and Canadiana, creating a sound that is both universal and unique, novel yet familiar. Their music, characterized by tight harmonies and energetic performances, inspires good times and dancing feet wherever they go. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and their talent injects new life into many traditional tunes. Over the years, The County Lads have had the opportunity to share their music with audiences all over Eastern Canada, from the East Coast to Toronto, from Landsdowne Park on New Year’s Eve to Sudbury. Despite their widespread success, they have never forgotten their small-town roots, continuing to write and perform music that resonates with fans of all backgrounds. The County Lads' journey is a testament to their passion for music and dedication to their craft. They continue to captivate audiences with their innovative blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, ensuring that their music is enjoyed by all.
